@ihu, I think the success of Ubuntu is down to it’s community and it’s ease of use. I think you find it difficult to accept that people want these things, but, you are free to use other distros, Enjoy the choice!

That’s neither here nor there. This post is simply a status update regarding how women are working together and trying to get more women interested in free and open source software. In case you’re not aware, only 2% of FOSS contributors are women, while 28% of developers in the proprietary world are women. We’d like to stop being seen as weird for being girls and using Linux, but the only thing that’ll stop that being weird is there being just plain more of us.

I really value the space which #ubuntu-women represents on IRC. I think it’s the only channel I’ve ever spent much time in which is primarily women.
