You need the milk so you get a nice even emulsion out of the whipped egg. It’s the emulsion that gives you that nice golden brown goodness.

For bread, stick with quality thick-sliced Italian.

French toast is bread dipped in egg (and sometimes a little milk) and fried in a pan on the stove :) A little powdered sugar or cinnamon may be put on top, along with butter and syrup. Yum!

I see you had some ‘French Toast’ – please tell me it’s the one where bread is dipped into whisked egg, and then fried? I ask because in my home town we used to call this delectable treat ‘French Toast’, and where I am at the moment they call it ‘eggy bread’…. argh…madness.
