The first time I left the US was when I was 4 years ago, when I was 26, and that was just to Canada! Went overseas the first time 3 years ago. Gosh how things can change in just a few years :)

I recall I spoke to MaryAnne Ward(ward.maryanne@gmail.com) who worked with the Ghana Together project where some OLPC XOs where deployed. You might want to ask her various things.
