MJ and I arrived around noon and ordered some pizza (I think I found my good pizza in California, why does it have to be all the way over in <i>Berkeley<\/i>?).<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/032010\/bobbygs.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/032010\/bobbygs_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>First on the agenda at the event was working on a tri-fold brochure, which <a href=\"https:\/\/lists.ubuntu.com\/archives\/ubuntu-us-ca\/2010-March\/001101.html\">Jack started a thread on the list for<\/a>. We got a lot of great feedback from participants at the event, on the mailing list and on IRC.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/032010\/berkeleyjamcrowd.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/032010\/berkeleyjamcrowd_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>We ended up having about 15 people attend, all told, and it was excellent to finally meet a number of people in the area who I&#8217;d only really been exposed to via mailing lists and other online mediums, including <a href=\"http:\/\/jdeslippe.com\/\">Jack Deslippe<\/a> of BerkeleyLUG, Michael Paoli of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.balug.org\/\">BALUG<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/myrtti.fi\/blog\/welcome\/\">Miia Ranta<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.ubuntu.com\/Myrtti\">Ubuntu fame<\/a> who came all the way here from Finland to attend our jam (ok, maybe she is in the area for other reasons too). Plus I got to catch up with <a href=\"http:\/\/jonobacon.org\">Jono Bacon<\/a> who popped in unexpectedly, <a href=\"http:\/\/grantbow.com\">Grant Bowman<\/a> (the main day&#8217;s speaker!) and <a href=\"http:\/\/markterranova.org\/\">Mark Terranova<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gidgetkitchen.org\/\">Gidget Kitchen<\/a> (who brought me some fresh and dried herbs &#8211; thanks again, Mark! And had visions of a bay area <a href=\"http:\/\/geeknic.org\/\">Geeknic<\/a> dancing in his head).<\/p>\n<p>Around 1:45 our focus shifted to an interactive presentation by Grant where he discussed bugs in Ubuntu by walking everyone through some bug resources he gathered <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.ubuntu.com\/CaliforniaTeam\/Projects\/LucidGlobalJam\/Bugs\">here<\/a>. His presentation was great and the questions and discussions that followed about workflow (plus some info about the development of the processes from Jono) was fantastic.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/032010\/berkeleyjamgrant.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/032010\/berkeleyjamgrant_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Following Grant&#8217;s presentation I did a short run through the official Ubuntu documentation resources available with an accompanying <a href=\"http:\/\/people.ubuntu.com\/~lyz\/FindingHelpfulResources.pdf\">handout<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In all, a very fun day!
