{"id":3090,"date":"2010-06-23T19:29:53","date_gmt":"2010-06-24T02:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/journal\/?p=3090"},"modified":"2016-11-03T11:23:26","modified_gmt":"2016-11-03T18:23:26","slug":"geeknic-and-sf-ubuntu-hour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/princessleia.com\/journal\/2010\/06\/geeknic-and-sf-ubuntu-hour\/","title":{"rendered":"Geeknic and SF Ubuntu Hour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday MJ and I packed up our picnic goodies and headed down to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Los_Gatos,_California\">Los Gatos<\/a> (no, I didn&#8217;t bring my cats or my NetFlix DVDs) to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sccgov.org\/portal\/site\/parks\/parksarticle?path=%252Fv7%252FParks%2520and%2520Recreation%252C%2520Department%2520of%2520%2528DEP%2529&#038;contentId=54a698ba77784010VgnVCM10000048dc4a92____&#038;cpsextcurrchannel=1\">Vasona Lake County Park<\/a> for the <a href=\"http:\/\/geeknic.org\/?p=106\">second Bay Area Geeknic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This was a smaller geeknic than the first, but we had the essential ingredients for a great day.<\/p>\n<p>Good people!<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/062010\/geeknic2_group.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/062010\/geeknic2_group_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Good food!<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/062010\/geeknic2_kabobs.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/062010\/geeknic2_kabobs_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>And beautiful weather! But it&#8217;s California, so was there any question about that? I also remembered to wear sunblock! I made it easy on myself and we had it at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/the-roastery-san-francisco\">The Roastery<\/a>, which is very close. Place and timing worked out better than I could have planned, since our event was 6-7PM and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfmysql.org\/\">SF MySQL Meetup<\/a> just the next street over at 7PM! Most of our attendees from the Hour ended up heading over there after.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/062010\/ubuntu_hour_june_2010.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/062010\/ubuntu_hour_june_2010_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m very happy with this inaugural Hour, 5 of us attended ad we even got 64-bit 10.04 installed on a MacBook (and by &#8220;got installed&#8221; I mean we chatted while the installer chugged away, and then offered tips about how he could get wifi going at home).
