{"id":6626,"date":"2012-08-10T10:54:02","date_gmt":"2012-08-10T17:54:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/journal\/?p=6626"},"modified":"2016-11-03T10:41:09","modified_gmt":"2016-11-03T17:41:09","slug":"san-francisco-ubuntu-hour-and-debian-dinner-wrap-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/princessleia.com\/journal\/2012\/08\/san-francisco-ubuntu-hour-and-debian-dinner-wrap-up\/","title":{"rendered":"San Francisco Ubuntu Hour and Debian Dinner Wrap-up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday night I hosted an Ubuntu Hour and Debian Dinner in downtown San Francisco.<\/p>\n<p>We have our <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.ubuntu.com\/CaliforniaTeam\/Projects\/UbuntuHours\">Ubuntu Hours<\/a> here in San Francisco once a month, and it was November of 2010 that I decided to start tacking on a <a href=\"http:\/\/bad.debian.net\/\">Bay Area Debian<\/a> Dinner every other month at a restaurant across the street. Over the past couple of years it&#8217;s been interesting to see the crossover between the two meetups and how the success of the Debian Dinners has actually bolstered attendance at the Ubuntu Hours. There tends to be a lot of overlap between the two distributions, and it&#8217;s common for conversations to spill over between the two events.<\/p>\n<p>This month we were happy to have good turnouts for both, 7 people coming to the Ubuntu Hour.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/082012\/ubuntu_hour_aug_2012.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/082012\/ubuntu_hour_aug_2012_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>And 10 to the Debian dinner!<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/082012\/bay_area_debian_aug_2012.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/082012\/bay_area_debian_aug_2012_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Thanks to everyone who came out, it was great to see some new faces, made for a fun evening!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday night I hosted an Ubuntu Hour and Debian Dinner in downtown San Francisco.
