{"id":686,"date":"2005-06-23T13:40:00","date_gmt":"2005-06-23T13:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=686"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T07:00:00","slug":"because-they-are-bibles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/princessleia.com\/journal\/2005\/06\/because-they-are-bibles\/","title":{"rendered":"Because they are Bibles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While eating lunch my supervisor popped into my cube and said &#8220;It&#8217;s beautiful out, sunny, warm, not humid!&#8221; I finished my lunch and grabbed my bag to go for a walk downtown. <\/p>\n<p>I had a half dozen old CDs in my bag that I wanted to get rid of, so first I walked down to a used cd store. The guy at the shop gave me $13 for the cds, fine with me.<\/p>\n<p>I then walked to the thrift shop to browse the books.<\/p>\n<p>While looking through the religion section I noticed a few Bibles on the shelf. I thought back to the introduction to a set of &#8220;Great Books of the Western World&#8221; I have where they explained that since everyone has a copy of the Bible they didn&#8217;t include it in the set.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone has a copy of the Bible.<\/p>\n<p>Well I don&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>Since reading that I figured I should pick up a Bible, I&#8217;m not a Christian, but it&#8217;s a good book to have around.<\/p>\n<p>So I grabbed a copy of the Good News Bible (Modern English) in hardback, a softcover of the King James Version, and a hardcopy of Who&#8217;s Who in the Bible just for fun.<\/p>\n<p>I got up to the checkout, idly wondering what the woman at the counter would think of me.<\/p>\n<p>She rang me up and the total came to 75 cents. 75 cents?
