{"id":8373,"date":"2013-08-02T10:45:53","date_gmt":"2013-08-02T17:45:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/journal\/?p=8373"},"modified":"2016-11-03T10:29:15","modified_gmt":"2016-11-03T17:29:15","slug":"fosscon-on-august-10th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/princessleia.com\/journal\/2013\/08\/fosscon-on-august-10th\/","title":{"rendered":"Fosscon on August 10th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Next week we&#8217;ll be heading back east to Philadelphia for the 4th annual <a href=\"http:\/\/fosscon.org\/\">Fosscon<\/a> on Saturday, August 10th.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fosscon.org\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/082013\/fosscon_banner.png\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I gave the keynote at this conference <a href=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/journal\/?p=4763\">in 2011<\/a> and this year that honor goes to Jordan Miller of UPenn who will be talking about <em>AMRI: Building Open Source Infrastructures for Science<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m coming back to give a presentation on <a href=\"http:\/\/fosscon.org\/archives\/832\"><em>Open Source Systems Administration<\/em><\/a>, drawing upon my work at HP with the OpenStack Infrastructure team.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Abstract: <\/strong>The infrastructure for the OpenStack project is managed in public by a distributed team of systems administrators from several companies all over the world collaborating online. You will get a whirlwind tour through the tools we use to accomplish this and some of the benefits, trade-offs and challenges that the team encounters.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>My talk will be at 10:35AM in Linode Hall.<\/p>\n<p>It will also be great to visit with my old friends from the <a href=\"http:\/\/ubuntupennsylvania.org\/\">Pennsylvania LoCo<\/a> who are running the &#8220;Hacker Hall&#8221; along with folks from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hive76.org\/\">Hive76<\/a>. Stop by and we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll help you repurpose the old into something new and wonderful.<\/p>\n<p>All distributions of Linux are welcome.
