{"id":9558,"date":"2014-07-08T15:43:18","date_gmt":"2014-07-08T22:43:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/journal\/?p=9558"},"modified":"2016-11-03T10:21:39","modified_gmt":"2016-11-03T17:21:39","slug":"openstack-infrastructure-july-2014-bug-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/princessleia.com\/journal\/2014\/07\/openstack-infrastructure-july-2014-bug-day\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenStack Infrastructure July 2014 Bug Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today the OpenStack Infrastructure team hosted our first bug day of the cycle.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/31505964@N08\/5158714958\" title=\"The Killing Jar; the last moments of a Parage aegeria by O.F.E., on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/princessleia.com\/images\/journalpics\/072014\/butterfly_jar.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" alt=\"The Killing Jar; the last moments of a Parage aegeria\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The steps we have for running a bug day can be a bit tedious, but it&#8217;s not hard, here&#8217;s the rundown:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I create our etherpad: <a href=\"https:\/\/etherpad.openstack.org\/p\/cibugreview-july2014\">cibugreview-july2014<\/a> (see etherpad from past bug days on the wiki at: <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.openstack.org\/wiki\/InfraTeam#Bugs\">InfraTeam#Bugs<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>I run my simple <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/pleia2\/openstack-infra-scripts\/blob\/master\/infra_bugday.py\">infra_bugday.py<\/a> script and populate the etherpad.<\/li>\n<li>Grab the bug stats from launchpad and copy them into the pad so we (hopefully) have inspiring statistics at the end of the day.<\/li>\n<li>Then comes the real work. I open up the old etherpad and go through all the bugs, copying over comments from the old etherpad where applicable and making my own comments as necessary about obvious updates I see (and updating my own bugs).<\/li>\n<li>Let the rest of the team dive in on the etherpad and bugs!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Throughout the day we chat in #openstack-infra about bug statuses, whether we should continue pursuing certain strategies outlined in bugs, reaching out to folks who have outstanding bugs in the tracker that we&#8217;d like to see movement on but haven&#8217;t in a while.
