Well I actually left the house this past weekend. Last week our cable was all screwy.. lost channels 23-46, which are pretty much all we watch… thought something had broken when they installed the cable next door so we had ppl come out and check out line, they said it was fine so I called back today and they told me that we had been getting standard cable when we were only supposed to get basic, heh… 7 months and they discover this now? Well it’s freaking $30 extra a month to get what we’ve had the whole time living here… who knows if it’s worth it, we hardly watch tv… but when we want to we don’t want to just get crappy channels! UGH! H8 @ Com(munist)cast!!! Oh well… We went out friday night to get a movie, rented A Beautiful Mind since we hadnt seen it… turned out to be a really great movie, I was very impressed, ‘specially since I dont like Russell Crowe much, but he did a really great job. Then on saturday I was like “Myk, we have to do something tonight” ’cause I was terribly bored. So we went to this arcade in philly called Jillians… Hmmm it’s not only an arcade, it was a big place, arcade, bowling alley, dance hall, pool area, bar, lots of stuff, it was a kewl place and we hung out in the arcade the whole time… played a bit of skeeball (very badly I might add).. and air hockey a few times, that was kewl, and we played this virtual bowling game… you could bowl through cities, or the woods, or in a regular alley, we played in the woods and i kept screwing up and hitting trees n stuff, it was… interesting, but fun. I’ve never been a big arcade fan ’cause it was expensive, but this place wasnt too bad, and they use these neat credit cards to play games, each card has points on it and you use that instead of carrying around quarters or tokens. Anyway it was a good way just to have fun.. afterwards we went to Friday’s … were they screwed up our order ’cause they seemed to have a cook there that liked to put bacon on everything even when I asked them not to, heh, I DONT EAT PORK! %) We got home around 10ish and Myk was msg’ed by someone on IRC (a guy we sorta know from PLUG) asking us if we wanted to hang out for a bit that night. So it was 10ish, and we werent at all tired so we got some directions and drove out there, ended up being almost an hour away, hehe… but it was kewl spending time with real people. I had never met Ian’s (Ian is the guy’s name…) fiancee before, and she seemed really nice. Apparently she works as an electrical engineer… and he works from home from what I gather. And he’s a KDE developer (KDE is one of the window managers for linux… like Gnome, or Enlightenment… yeah). So we spent a couple hours over there, mostly Myk and Ian talking about computer stuff that I barely understood. Heh, they asked me what I did and I didn’t know what to say, just looked at Myk and was like “uh… not much… I don’t have a job…” Myk was like “she’s learning perl!” Gah, I hate when people ask me what I do, I feel like such a failure. I guess they know I use linux, so Ian was like “you should just tell people you are a consultant” lol… I guess I could, and maybe someday I’ll even get paid for my advice so I wont be lying! But for now I’m a charity consultant, hehe. I guess I was pretty shy again, I can’t help it %( Plus I felt pretty dumb ’cause I know Ian and his fiancee graduated from college, and Myk was totally involved in the conversation. I think they tried to get me into the conversation when they started talking about books, Ian’s fiancee is an Orson Scott Card fan too, so that was kewl.. but for the most part Ian was bragging about reading big books at age 12 n shit. Not that he’s a bad person, he’s really smart and nice, just has that “i graduated college, that means I am so smart” additude that I have found among some college grads. Anyway, we had a nice time there, it’s cool getting to know new people *shrugs* Ended up leaving there around 1:30ish… came home and chatted for a while before bed. Sunday was not so eventful… got up around noon, chatted, my allergies were acting up really bad so I ended up going to read around 3ish, took some Benedryl that made me feel all froozy, and it didnt make my sinus headache go away like it said it would! I just sorta napped a little til Myk came in and asked if I was ok. I took some tylenol finally for the headache, and felt better… we ordered pizza and channel surfed the channels we do have for an excuse to snuggle on the couch. We watched some of these new Law & Order shows… they suck %) Then ate some ice cream and watched Adult Swim on the cartoon network… I went to bed around 1..

So it’s today now… and currently 11:41, I think today I might actually write up that r2d2 history thing for my webpage… I also want to write a little thing about platform independent webpages and why they are so important (I have a lot of discussions about this with people who seem to think everyone uses IE). But right now I am gonna get back to what I was saying earlier about the college grads vs. non college grads thing. I have noticed, in the field of computers anyway, it’s pretty easy to see who graduated from a nice college and who taught themselves everything they know. It’s very interesting seeing the difference. I’ve found that the college grads tend to be a bit more cocky, and talk about things differently… strictly text book… while those who teach themselves attack problems, and explain them much differently. I think if i were to have a teacher for anything in computers I’d prefer someone who didnt go to college. I mean I have friend who are at the same level, some went to college, some just have certifications, and the ones who didnt go to college understand “newbies” much better. Since they were there and they know what it’s like not to have someone take them by the hand and teach them everything they need to know. SO I am thinking I wont go to college afterall… It’s really impressive how much some people have acomplished, one of our friends didnt even graduated high school and he’s doing well.. another didnt go to college and he doesnt have trouble finding jobs because he has so much experience, even Myk didnt get a degree, he just got certifications, and he’s doing very well. *shrugs* I guess college could help, but if I really put my mind to it I can learn everything on my own, and not owe thousands of dollars when I’m done %)

*yawn* anyway I gotta go eat lunch…
