Well my site’s back up %) YAY!!!!

Well it’s friday again, another week has gone by without acomplishing much… I am almost finished with those neopets pages tho, just need to write a little about my little penguinish pet named rhTux (linux name, yes). Sun was supposed to have released that apache patch for the cobalt today, if so Myk will install it tonight so tomorrow my page will be back up (hopefully). And then I can move my lil neopets pages from my harddrive to the ‘net so I can post my stuff here so people can go see how neat they look, hehehe.

Hmmm I think I solved my headache problem (hopefully) … I think it’s probably lack of caffine… see we havent had soda in the house lately (hating people too much to go to the grocery store for little things we run out of you see), and I havent been drinking coffee. I woke up with a headache again this morning, and made myself some coffee, and it’s gone! %) So hopefully it’s just a caffine dependancy (yes, hopefully, ’cause that I can manage %P! Intravenous caffine plz, just like a real junkie! … that’s a joke)

Oh I am almost done with that Perl tutorial %) I am working on Regular Expressions now, why can’t all regular expressions be uniform somehow?! * means something in vim… something else in bash scripting, and something different again in perl! It’s so annoying… I am going to get SOOO confused. But at least I understand the logic/reasoning/method behind Regular Expressions, or I’d be totally lost by this %) Myk even asked me when I’m done if I could teach him some of what I learned… hehe… I’ll prolly just pass him my 15 pages of notes, hehehe!

So I think I will go work on that tutorial summore… My books should be arriving in the next couple days, yay! So that’s something to look forward to %) Plus it’s the weekend… (%

I have a headache again. I guess I havent mentioned them in previous blogs, but I have been getting them a lot lately. Maybe it’s because of the air conditioning? Maybe it’s allergies? I dunno but I’m certainly keeping the pain reliever companies in business %) But it does make concentrating *very* difficult. I was working through that perl tutorial, writing some little progys on my own and I just couldnt focus. I did get a whole page further in the tutorial today, before it got too bad to think. Hopefully this headache will go away and I will be able to do some shell scripting later %) That’d be kewl, I definately need to learn some of that, since I am terrible with bash and I *know* I spend a lot of time I dont really need to doing repetitious tasks I could preform with a simple script :)

Anyway, I went to see Lilo and Stitch last night. We had been sorta planning to see it sometime this week ’cause Myk mentioned in chat (in the chat room we chat in with our RL friends) that I wanted to see it, and Mike and Nita said they’d come along too. So Nita called last night and asked if we wanted to go… I guess it was pretty good, funny, cute %) And it was so sad ’cause Stitch doesnt have a family because he was created by an evil Doctor (this isnt spoiling, really this all is part of the first 4 minutes or so)… I admit, I got a little teary-eyed! Hehehe. It wasnt one of Disney’s best, but it wasnt awful either… And this makes it so I dont break my tradition of seeing every disney full length animated feature in the theater since the little mermaid intact (Fantasia 2000 SO does not count, since that was only in IMAX, and I didnt live near any… I saw Dinosaur that year anyway). Oh and apparently Disney (i assume?) Is coming out with “Treasure Planet” later this year… 2 FLAF’s in one year? *Sigh* I dunno how I will convince Myk to take me to see that! Hehe… I guess it turns out that I’m DEFINATELY more of a movie theater person than he is. Prolly ’cause everywhere I’ve lived the only thing to do is go to the movies or hang out at coffee shops, so I sorta got used to it. Last year around this time I was at the theater almost every other week… I even saw Pearl Harbor and Atlantis in the Drive-In… Drive-ins are kewlies, 2 movies for like $6 per person! And you can sneak in tons of food very easily, hehe… not that I’d do that… often ;)

Sooo I was playing with my Neopet this morning (no way!) and I was playing Scorcho Slots and I won all 6 of the faeries! … Ok I bet that means *nothing* to most people but it’s really cool and they are worth tons!!! Hehe… need I say again I am freaking pathetic? Well I did learn that my aunt gail and both my cousins kelly and scott have neopets too so I dont feel *so* bad ^_^ .. woohoo justifying my insanity!

Well I think I am gonna go zone out for a while, til my headache goes away, ’cause I cant think enough to write much, or do much, st00pid headache!!

Bleh… another day. Hmm sometimes I feel that i am being really silly, wasting my life away one day at a time, getting barely anything useful acomplished… but then I wonder, what ARE we supposed to acomplish in a day? And then from there I get all introspective. *Sigh* All that thinking doesnt help me from feeling useless tho…

Ok, so what’d I do today? I chatted some… played some games on neopets (god I’m pathetic!) and I’m working on cute pages for my neopets… not so much for the fact that I need cute little webpages for them, but I dont generally pass up an opportunity to use my newly found color theory skills. Plus I dont want my html skills to get rusty! This gives me content to make pretty pages.

I finally decided to quit reading Preternatural it just sucked way too bad. The only other book I read that was that bad was this lousy dragon-themed fantasy novel, that was obviously only printed once… is it only scifi/fantasy novels that are so bad that I cant finish them or do they publish really crappy books of every genre? I guess I must encounter more in scifi/fantasy since that’s mostly what I read…

Ok, so yesterday I didnt work on that perl tutorial at all like I said I would, so today I really am going to, since I have been wasting so much time doing nothing the past few weeks, I will be very depressed if I dont get *something* worthwhile done this week… *out*

So it’s hot again today (did I mention yesterday that it was terribly hot out? Well we broke down and turned the a/c back on, yay! So it’s not unbarably hot in here anymore %) We did find out where our little ant problem came from (somewhat)… oh did I explain the ant problem? Well, since moving in we have had all sorts of ants, in the bathroom, computer room and a few in the dining room, each time Myk (who HATES bugs) has gone all crazy cleaning spree, I mean our place is really clean anyway (cept for my desk) but this is like, bleach and moving everything cleaning. Spraying tons of ant spray, putting down traps, etc. And nothing has worked, even the exterminater that came like 3 months ago didnt seem to help. So today when Myk went to work he found TONS of ants by our front door, apparently they must be getting in somehow from their swarms (what do you call a group of ants?) outside, and getting in through cracks n stuff to get in our house. Yuck! I called the leasing office this morning to see if we could get an exterminator to come and take a look, I am getting a bit sick of bugs AND raid fumes.. even if it is “Unscented” or “Country Fresh” Raid, it still gives me headaches. Anyway, I went outside this morning, with a can of raid, and sprayed around the front door, in an effort to thwart their entrance for the time being, and stupidly I let the door close behind me. So there I am, it’s 85 degrees out, a can of Raid in my hand and I cant get into my apartment. SO I put the can down and walked up to the leasing office and signed out a key to my apartment. It’s only a 5 minute walk, but with 50% humidity and how hot it was it wasnt exactly pleasant. So I got back here, grabbed my key and brought the other one back to the leasing office, after which I was very hot and crankie, hehe.

Speaking of crankie I got annoyed by this kid I devoiced in #13thHour yesterday (in #13thour our chat is moderated, meaning you can only talk if we give you voice)… See, i was giving this kid a chance ’cause he had a friend or two in the room, but then yesterday he msg’ed me, all coming on to me n stuff and i was like “uhhh, no?” THEN he sent me to a site with pictures of him on it, and then to a “special page” where it showed naked pics of him!!! EWWW, luckily he warned me of this before I even thought of going, pics of naked 15 year olds isnt exactly something I enjoy *gross* … So then my little sis comes in the room and he shows HER the pictures!!! My little sis is only 13!!! When I found this out I was so pissed that I devoiced him. SO then this morning he comes into the room, without being able to talk, and just stays there… then he messages me “you should get a firewall” and OBVIOUS threat. So I kicked him from the room, so sick of his crap. Then he starts pm’ing me with all this “you are a whore” “you are ugly” “you have no friends” traditional lamer crap… on top of all this he spoofed the room (joined so he could see what we were saying but we couldnt see him), unfortunately for him I can see spoofs with the chat client I am using, so I just kept kicking him. It was just annoying, not the type of crap I want to deal with, that’s why my room is moderated! Freaking kids… On the bright side I reported his page to geocities under “pornography/nakedness” So he hopefully wont be terrorizing anymore girls with that crap.

Hmmm… oh I probably havent mentioned my reading habits lately (oh god I’m boring)… but I finished book 2 and 3 of The Malloreon series that I was reading, of course I mentioned earlier that I dont have book 4… so i ordered it from bn.com (barnes & noble), as well as the third wheel of time book… ’cause if you buy 2 or more items you get free shipping, so it turns out to be cheaper than actually going to the store, no tax! So I got an email today that those were shipped today, should get here within 3-8 business days. In the meantime I looked on my shelf to find something I hadnt read, and found Preternatural by Margaret Wander Bonanno. Well it pretty much sucks. Maybe I am too used to reading really good, best selling type books that something like this really shocked me? I guess I’ll say a bit about it (if I can) … It’s very VERY confusing, on page 85 the book asks you “are you still with us? Here is a recap…” from what I gather it’s “written” by these alien jellyfish things that live inside all the characters of the story’s minds. Yep. Bonanno, isnt that the name of a former NYC crime boss or something? Yeah, is THAT why she got her book published?! I searched amazon.com to see if this book was even still in print, and there are two sequals! I read some of the reviews, and although most of them say it’s good, I tend to agree with this reader:

“I have a hard time even describing how much I disliked this book. It is, hands down, the worst book I have read in years…boring, boring, boring.”

I am not sure I’ll finish it. It alludes to star trek type scifi in some of the characters, and I’m really not into that. Yuck!

So after telling Myk how stupid the book was last night he pulled down a could books by Robert Anton Wilson. Apparently he’s a social philosopher (i guess that’s what you’d call him) who explores the mind in his own views… reaching from the depths of existance to pull up reasons for how we think, etc. It’s very entertaining, funny at times, and deadly serious at others. SO i’m currently reading Quantum Psychology and although some of the references to psychologists allude me(with the exception of freud of course) he makes understanding his point very easy for most anyone. Apparently he has come under lots of critizism since he has non-traditonal views, but it’s all very interesting, and I’m pretty much open to most things, this is really kewl… and it’s not very long, I might read it again after this to get stuff I missed the first time around. Its definately one of those books I should read every year or so… I’ll have to look into more about this author…

Hmmm what else? Bleh this is long! Hehe… OH! The official release date for that goddamned patch is friday. It took them over 1 1/2 weeks to release it! Big meanies, in the meantime I have a whole week where I cant even access my site, AND other sites are being DoS’ed waiting for this stupid patch *grumbles* Anyway, I guess I can stop my complaining since at least they have a release date now… Now hopefully they will have it out by then, or I’ll be screaming again, hehe.

I guess that’s it for noew (heh, long entry!) I am gonna go wander off and study summore perl, because I need to and I havent been, I’ve been doing things like playing with my neopet and playing with cute images, lol.. oh and writing in my goddamned weblog ;)…

Happy Birthday Winter!

Well it’s my lil sisski winter’s birthday. She’s one of those people who doesnt say much when it is her birthday… so I was actually unsure I had the right date written down until I actually asked her, heh. Anyway, she’s a pretty cool girl, hates windows so we are trying to get her to go to the linux side, she’s on aol tho… so she’s gonna have to change her ISP, but she said thats not a problem… It’ll be kewl trying to help someone with it %) I just wish Syntopicon would come back so I had someone else to talk to about it… heh.

Hmmm it’s freaking hot today, weather.com tells me it’s 90°, ick. We had the a/c off most of the day, most of the week actually since we got a pretty evil looking electric bill recently, heh. But it’s so hot today I’d cook if I didnt turn it on! It’s definately a day I’d wander down to the pool if I had a bathing suit *sigh*

So I’ve been talking to people, and playing with my NeoPets site… well, working on it on my computer first, I will put it up when my site is back and I have somewhere to upload my pictures (yes, my site is still down)… Speaking of which, I was really crankie when I wrote that last entry, lol, poor sun, being the subject of my heat induced crankie wrath!

Happy sunday… well guess what! My site is STILL down… bastards need to release the patch NOEW!!! s’fucking annoying, see, not only does this site need images hosted on my webserver, but also a couple other sites, and it’s really frustrating that I cant have them because sun wont get off it’s ass and write a freaking patch.

*Sigh* It’s so hot out today… we arent turning on the a/c til it’s really needed since our electric bill was so high last month, stupid summer! Oh well… that’s enough of an entry today, I am gonna go read ’cause it’s tooooo hot in here.

Anyway I actually went out today, hung out with people n stuff… Our friend Ed has a pool and he sorta had a pool party and bbq so that was kewl, we stayed for a couple hours. Myk got to play Munch on the xbox, hehe, that game is great..too bad the xbox sucks (evil microsoft!!!). I felt kinda weird today tho, prolly after-affects of the headache I went to bed with last night, so I was pretty zoned out most of the day. An aquaintance of ours asked if I was ok, I was like “oh, yeah i’m fine” .. then another friend was like, “yeah, she’s just one of those quiet people” … heh, I guess I havent changed *all* that much huh?

I had fun tho, didnt swim because of my lack of a bathing suit, I just havent had a chance to get one *shrugs* I did get to see eris and duncan, ed’s kitties, they are so cute! Hehe…

Bleh, well I’m out… and I know… my site’s still down *sigh* Hopefully that’ll be remedied soon…

Oh and I almost forgot! I tried Vanilla Coke today an interesting experience… it’s like Coke and Cream Soda mixed… so if you like cream soda (I have to be in the mood for it) then you’ll prolly like this… Of course I had never heard of it til today, leave it to me to be that oblivious to modern soda culture… hehehe

So my webpage is still down, which obviously has me pretty bummed… Oh and we got the electric bill, no more A/C all day! Unless it’s really hot, so it’s getting pretty warm in here, I guess I could go to another room, since I know the computers are what cause most of the heat in here, but that would not be any fun. I’m just drinking lots of water and trying to keep myself occupied, it’s supposed to be in the 80s for the next week at least, ugh, I miss Maine, hehe.

So with my site down, what was I doing all day? I was playing games with my neopets ok!!! Yep, the sad sad world of my life, I have 3 neopets. The only reason I dont just kill myself now (that’s sarcasm folks, geez), is ’cause I know a guy online who has neopets too, and he’s older than me and he’s not gay, hehehe. So I am sure I am not the only college age person with one.. *ahem* so yes, I spent like most of the morning and half the afternoon playing with them. I got a bit carried away with Blackjack tho (no one told me card games were addictive!!!), I ended up losing half my money… not that it matters much, you can get it back by playing free games n stuff. I even went as far as working on their little webpages. I still probably will when I finish this and realize how insanely bored I am again. Unfortunately since my webserver is down (ugghhhh!!!) I cant make my own banners n stuff yet for the sites if I do decide to create them. Geez I have no life.

No wait! Tomorrow we are going somewhere where there are people n stuff. One of our friends has a pool and he’s sorta having a pool party tomorrow. Of course I dont have a bathing suit, and I’m so insanely self concious I prolly wouldnt swim anyway, but it’s a great excuse %D I guess they wanna play D&D too, they will prolly beg Myk and I to play. And being a geek, I have played *once* but that was a while ago and playing a couple sessions definately doesnt get one used to playing a game… luckily I played Vampire The Maquarade quite extensively so I *do* know how rpg’s usually play out. Myk on the otherhand (being the cool guy that he is) has never played. How did I end up with a guy who is only recently turned geek? Hehehe. It’s like when we went to the midnight showing of starwars, I was probably the only girl that dragged her boyfriend to it instead of vice versa… bleh, anyway… I dont really wanna play but Myk had mentioned to them that he might sit in for a session sometime, and I guess tomorrow will be a pretty good opportunity. Plus it’s a good reason to get out of the house for the day and not spend lots of money, hehe.

Hmmmm in other news, Lilo and Stitch comes out today… ah I remember back in the day when I went to see every disney movie opening day… for Hercules we even went to a special expensive sneak peek a week early. We got a neat commemorative pin n stuff (which i scanned, but of course i cant post ’cause my website is down!!!)… too bad the movie sucked. Anyway, I dunno if Lilo and Stitch will be any better, but dispite my slacking in seeing disney movies on opening day I have seen them all in the theater… Atlantis I saw at a drive in, double feature with Pearl Harbor… I guess seeing both those movies was sorta worth the $5 I paid. Anyway, I’ll have to drag Myk to see it with me since we never got to see Ice Age, and we havent been to the theater since StarWars, and I am a movie theater going fiend! Must. Have. Fix. %) Anyway… I am gonna go wander off and do nothing again, oh maybe I’ll work on that perl tutorial a bit and pick out pieces from madragorans shitfi.pl xchat script to see if I can figure it out with my expanded perl knowledge. Or I could just play with my neopets.

Ok, time for a pissed off rant! So I’m logging onto Audiogalaxy this afternoon because I have never heard “Jimmy Eat World” before (I’m serious, I dont listen to the radio, what can I say?), so I think “hey, maybe I’ll go grab a couple mp3s and see if I like” … WELL they’ve gone the way of napster!!! Fucking (am I allowed to say that? Heehee) recording agency sued them (well i knew that) and apparently they were like “ok, we will stop being bad” So noew you cant get a friggin thing! Not even music from artists on mp3.com! Legitimately free mp3s!!! Plus it spams you with like every click. Now, you may ask “duh just use kazaa or something” .. well you see, kazaa decided to go all homo microsoft on us and now the linux port of their software doesnt work, and I am not going to be forced to booting into windows for a day just for the chance that an mp3 download might decide to finish. Audiogalaxy was the only mp3 thing I could get running in linux, and now they’ve gone all stupid on me! Maybe I should just give up on popular music all together ’cause I have so much contempt for the recording agency. No I wont calm down!!! It’s very annoying that they decide to limit technology like this, to the extent where even when the artists want their mp3s to be free they can’t be.

In other news my site is still down, but if you are seeing this site you can probably tell that since it’s pictureless. I wrote up a little 9.11 page for my site ’cause I kept meaning to, but I’ve been lazy, and I guess my list of things “i gotta put on my site” is pretty long %) … anyway… I think i am gonna go read or something ’cause I dont feel like sitting here writing anymore
