Pink USB Cable

More pink! A couple weeks ago friend of mine, knowing of my love for pink electronics and gadgets, sent me a pink USB cable. So here’s my pink mini9 charging my pink G1, with my brand new pink (ok, the photo makes it look more purple than it is) USB cable :) Thanks again, Fabian!

Ubuntu US and Pennsylvania updates

Ubuntu US Teams On August 26th the USTeams Project had a meeting: Minutes Logs Huge thanks to everyone who attended! There were a couple of major topics that came up: Visibility of the team itself, how do State teams know they can come to us for help? Some thoughts that were floated including getting ourselves […]

Wedding, sick, Nessy, Xen server

The wedding I attended on Saturday for Jonathan and Crissi was very nice (photos by Andrew Keyes): There was nommy cake! And I told #plug folks once the wedding was done (I met Jonathan through PLUG): Unfortunately, after arriving home after the wedding I was feeling a bit tired, later in the evening I started […]

Travel, Time, TV, Chromium browser, Linode upgrade

Gosh, my blog has been full of work, work, work and seriousness these past few weeks. I did mention my jaunt off to San Francisco a couple weeks ago to visit MJ (yay!). I stayed in last weekend and worked on projects, but this weekend am doing another insane-weekend-trip and am road tripping down to […]

Sweet Home 3D

This past weekend I flew to San Francisco to visit my boyfriend and help him start getting settled into the gorgeous new condo he recently purchased and I had yet to see. Upon arrival, I felt like I’d been there before! This was partially due to the photos and raw floor plans he sent me, […]

On Saturday morning I met up with fellow Ubuntu Pennsylvania LoCo members Kevin and Stephen over at FreeGeekPenn in Ephrata. FreeGeekPenn’s mission statement: FREE GEEK PENN is a non-profit organization that recycles used technology and provides computers, education and access to the internet to those in need in exchange for community service. Our intention for […]

PLUG Into Hive76

Last Tuesday Dan Toliaferro dropped by the Ubuntu Pennsylvania channel (#ubuntu-us-pa on irc.freenode.net) and asked if anyone would be interested in a new “Linux Night” in Philadelphia. We began discussion his venue, Hive76, a new hackerspace on Spring Garden Street. I proposed a collaboration with PLUG. He invited the folks from the Philly Linux Meetup.com […]

Retiring from the trenches

Over the past couple months I’ve found myself pondering the Women In F/OSS struggle and my place in it. For a long time I found it to be energizing, feeling like I was helping with the educating of people about the issue and engaging in discussions online, but I’ve hit a wall. I cringe at […]

Git, Star Trek, firewall fail and sister

Wednesday night I skipped down to Philly for an amazing pollo y papas burrito at MexiCali Cafe and then over to PLUG for Kyle Burton‘s Intro to Git talk (slides are on his talks page). Great presentation, and in an interesting twist of fate, while sitting at the meeting I received an email from my […]

Heat, test server, vlc and thunderbird

Today was hot, it appeared to have peaked around 91F, matching the record set in this area 19 years ago. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced 90F degree weather in April before, this is the second day of it and it looks to be lasting through Tuesday. My apartment is retrofitted for A/C, which means […]
